Man City news: Balague provides huge update on Pep Guardiola’s future | Football | Sport

That is according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

Guardiola has led Manchester City to the Premier League title in his second campaign in charge.

His current deal expires at the end of next season but Balague says City are keen to extend it soon.

However, Balague says it will only be a one-year extension for the time being.

Pep Guardiola has never managed a club longer than four years, so another two seasons would match the time he spent in charge at Barcelona.

Balague admits there is a possibility the 47-year-old could even stay beyond 2020.

“It’s his friends who are in charge, in some facilities that are the best in the world, with the squad that he’s chosen,” Balague told Sky Sports.

“It’s a young, young squad and with a lot of potential.

“He’s calm, he’s balanced, he’s happy, and I think Manchester City will soon offer him the possibility to stay on.

“But that will be year by year, so perhaps they will convince him to stay one more year and then in a year’s time do exactly the same.

“I think this will be at least a four-year deal in total, if not more.”
